Remembering 9/11

Cover

9/11. it seems it happened just a year or two ago but, while working on a lapbook from Hands of a Child, I realized it was ten years ago! Where has all the time gone? Something else I realized was that our son was born the year after it happened! The version of the lapbook has this option, called Type It In. It's the first time I've tried that option, I'm still deciding if I like it or not. You type your answers on the graphics and print them out. Four time, I had the lapbook graphics either all finished or almost done and poof! The answers were gone. I don't know if it was something I did, or my laptop. The final time, I printed each page out as I got them done. Something else I had problems with was the Vocabulary Words activity. Maybe it was just me but, I had problems doing the activity. I got it to work out beautifully though.
While I put together the lapbook, there were several activities that if I had designed a lapbook about September 11th 2001, they would have been included. One of the activities is to interview three people about where they were, what they were doing, how they feel about what happened, and other questions. I asked three different people from Arizona, Arkansas, and California. I haven't gotten all of them back yet, so they aren't all in the lapbook but, they will be. Another is to put what you were doing on that fateful day. Since my son wasn't there, I wrote what my husband and I were doing. Well, at least what I remembered happened. Some of the activities we did that day may be wrong. After all, it was ten years ago but, I don't think I would want to wait longer because my memories will fade over time and be even more inaccurate. After all, I asked my husband for some help with the activity but, he couldn't remember what we did that day at all! Maybe it was such a horrible day, he just didn't WANT to remember?
Something I added to the lap book were pictures, I designed a cover for the lap book from one picture I found on the internet. It was taken while someone was taking a trip by plane a year or two before the attack happened. I also added some other pictures I downloaded from the internet and identified. I just hope this lap book will help my son understand better what happened on September 11th, 2001. I know it is one day among many that changed America and maybe the World.
